This is the Rehearsal Page for the two Choir numbers we will be performing at our Pageant, in Choir Robes. Having been a Choir Director for 40 years, if you will memorize these pieces at home, we can absolutely amaze our audience.

If you sing alto, listen only to the alto audio.
If you sing soprano, listen only to the soprano audio.
Listen to it even when you are doing things around the house as well as actually practicing looking at the words at times.

I teach by spaced repetition which gives anyone the ability to memorize easily just by frequent listening. No different than how many of you can sing a commercial from TV simply because you have heard it so many times.

Below you will find the Soprano and Alto audio to both pieces, and the Word Sheets, which you can print out. For those of you who need the actual sheet music, if you will send me an email, I will send it to you. These songs are very entertaining and fun to do!

I have also posted the video for you sopranos to get a real feel for the way I want to do the solos. Even though these are classical pieces, they are spirituals as well, so we want to fully sing in the beauty of the genre.

I want to involve all you beautiful soprano solo voices, so please audition for the small solos I have noted in "I Wanna Be Ready." They are glorious solos!

Auditions!

We will hold auditions for the following six sections of "I Wanna Be Ready" at the beginning of Choir Rehearsal on Friday afternoon. I would love to have six Queens who have memorized the parts very well. If you are interested in auditioning, go ahead and memorize all the parts in case we don't have at least six Queens to audition. These must be sung with power and the pitches must be solid. We can make this ring, ladies, if you will put in the time to learn your part well.

Solo Sections:
(Listen to the video below for the vocal guide)
(1) I wanna be ready, I wanna be ready, I wanna be ready to walk in Jerusalem a-jus like John.

(2) My feet stand steady, My feet stand steady, My feet stand steady to walk in Jerusalem, a-jus like John.

(3) John said that Jerusalem was four-square. I hope, good Lord, to meet you there.

(4) If you get to heaven before I do, tell all a-my friends, I'm coming too!

(5) Oh, John, O John, now didn't you say, that you'd be there on that great day?

(6) Now some came crippled and some came lame, and some came a-walkin' in Jesus name.

Full Performance - Elijah & Joshua

Some of you may know that I had a Music School for 24 years, and took choirs to perform at Carnegie Hall for six of those years. We preformed these two songs, along with 300 other singers, from across America, in one of our performances at Carnegie Hall. These are both fun, sacred, classical pieces. If you can listen and memorize well, you do not have to be able to read music to sing these with our choir. In fact, it would be extremely rewarding to many of you who have always wanted to sing with a choir, but were too nervous. This is a great way to fulfill that dream in a very safe environment.

I will make it very enjoyable for you!

I spent six years singing in Carnegie Hall because I was not afraid to be daring, not afraid to take chances. I am asking you beautiful Queens to do the same. I assure you, if you are off pitch, I will tell you what you need to do to be okay in our choir!...and it will be a great experience. I taught my elementary students to sing a Latin song that was 18 pages long and they performed it in Carnegie hall, from memory! We so underestimate ourselves.

I will furnish Choir Robes for everyone who would like to participate. This will eliminate a costume change as you will wear the Choir Robe over your evening gown.
