Holistic Living

Because my instrument is my voice, I made the decision years ago to treat my body as if my voice depended on it…because it does!  When I get sick or have a physical complication, I immediately begin to examine and research to see if I can find the root of the problem.  I take the medication necessary to get me back on the road to health, but I discontinue the medication as soon as possible and try to learn from the situation so as to help avoid the same problem in the future.  I am not against medication or doctors; they certainly do have a very important place in our lives, but I do not depend on them to heal me.  I am in charge of my own health; it is my responsibility to direct my own well-being.  Sickness has become a way of life for Americans and there are scores of people who have no idea why they are sick and don’t want to go to the labor to find out why.  They take medication on top of medication complicating their situation even further.  The DSM Manual is a manual that lists all the diseases diagnosed by the medical profession.  The first DSM Manual was less than ¼ inch thick.  When I studied this manual in 2006, it was 4 inches thick.  America has become a medicated society and we are truly headed for a train wreck.  We must take the responsibility of our health and well-being back into our own hands.  We must search out the best eating habits, the best physical conditioning for our personal bodies and the lifestyle that is going to be conducive to health and long life.  As the old saying goes...you only have one life to live, but if you do it right, once is enough!
